From the stars of yesterday to the stars of today and tomorrow, take the journey as it unfolds, and you won’t regret a moment of your time. Learn how two communities – Clarenville and Shoal Harbour - were one in purpose and determination. Experience both the joys and the hardships of the pioneers of hockey in this community.
The people that I have profiled here are but a segment of the total number of volunteers who have made this history, and the extraordinary growth of hockey in this region possible. You will find that these people saw only black and white. They didn’t know the word “can’t”. They were truly unstoppable. If it needed doing they did it. The book will show you how.
For me, compiling this history of hockey in our wonderful town has been an incredible journey. Over the past year, our citizens have shared their stories, their photos and their lives with me. They have welcomed me into their homes and allowed me to pry into their past and the past of their loved ones. I can only say that I feel humbled by your candor and your kindness.
This is a book of 2000 or more faces. If you, your dad or anyone in your family ever played hockey at Clarenville you will want to read this story and see the old photographs. It makes for a great gift or keepsake.
The concept of this project was to develop a hall of fame dedicated to the builders of hockey in the Clarenville Area.
