I wish to thank you for the book. It is done expertly in all aspects and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was mildly surprised with your writing ability but you did a great job. All the pictures held my interest even though I don’t know everyone.
There is a picture of Random Island Hawks on page 92. In the back row 2nd from the right wearing glasses is Bert Pitcher (a teacher). If you have this picture on your computer, can I have a copy sent to me. Taking it from the book will not be the ideal picture. Bert is the person we spent two weeks with this summer in Golden Arm.
Again, a job well done on your book, and may you have to do many printings.
Congrats
Levi
Bough your book at Clarenville Inn, on my way home from golf yesterday. After a shower, made a coffee and lay back to make a start.
Well, after reading about the first half, my eyes felt like they were crossed to the point of no return. Reluctantly, I had to put it down and hit the sack.
Just now I finished reading it.
I know it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway…
THANKS for doing this! For I feel that if you hadn’t, no one else (despite all their ‘love’ for the Caribous, Clarenville, and related entities) would have.
If you do nothing further, you must now be considered an impact player with respect to documenting an important sphere in Clarenville history.
Sincere congratulations!!
Eric
Congratulations on a job well done. I started to read your table of contents in Hockey Quest and got so involved I just could not lay your book down until I reached the finished line. It brought back to me a lot of memories. Not only gave me the history of hockey in Clarenville from
1948 to the present 2008, but for me your book opened a window to see just
How Clarenville has progressed as a town in the last fifty years.
The names in your book of my hockey team mates and the names of Clarenville
people who gave their time, energy, and money to bring hockey where it is to-day say's a lot and I take of my hat off to them all.
Sam I notice my picture is not only on the cover but inside and my name is
mentioned many times throughout your book. What can I say. Thanks a
million for letting me play a small part in your hockey history of Clarenville.
With reference to Geneva Cholock. Betty and I really enjoyed our visit with
her and Chick. She always gave me a smile when I walked through the door at
the Grill. She is just one fine lady.
Sam to sum it all up your book is an excellent read. It is well thought
out. Well put together and one the people of Clarenville will want to own and pass along to their children. Like they say on TV "Good on you"
Regards
Boyd
Thanks Sam, I look forward to seeing you around the rink! I had a chance to take a look at the new book, it looks great!
